THURSDAY — LEADERSHIP, HISTORY & POWER
“Be quick, be quiet, and be on time.”
— Kelly Johnson
Kelly Johnson’s mantra wasn’t a slogan; it was an operating system. Johnson engineered small teams, single-point authority, and final decisions into Lockheed’s Skunk Works, and the structure outlived him. Silicon Valley borrowed the name, and Ukraine’s defense startups now ship hundreds of strike drones a day on shoestring budgets. The lesson for architects of organizations is structural, not motivational: speed isn’t exhorted in a memo, it’s designed into how authority and accountability are wired. Build the system, and the velocity follows. To learn more, Check out The WWII Engineer Who Invented Silicon Valley’s Startup Playbook.
Stay safe. Stay healthy. Be strong. Lead well.
