What if I told you that until 2019, 8-inch floppy disks served as the backbone of our military’s Emergency Action Messages (EAMS) which distribute orders to our nuclear forces? This news may send a shudder down your spine but, on the other hand, this tech has worked reliably since the Ford administration. This begs the question: What outdated technology do you rely upon simply out of habit and how do you decide when it’s time for an upgrade?
