Google’s new Minnesota data center project is basically a clinic in “don’t be the new neighbor everyone hates” – funding 1.9 gigawatts of clean energy, covering all grid upgrade costs, and designing tariffs that protect existing ratepayers from footing the bill. It’s a playbook more tech giants should steal: the companies that solve for everyone’s constraints, not just their own, are the ones that get to build at scale.
