A Poem to Inspire Business Leaders in the New Year

This past year, I’ve spilled quite a bit of digital ink in your general direction. Articles. Videos. My Daily Leadership Inspiration, which many of you subscribe to and write to me about. (Thank you to all my readers, by the way!)

Now, we near the end of 2021 and gird ourselves for the uncertainty of another new year.

I sat down to put my thoughts together about what 2022 might hold, and I began crafting an article titled 10 Ideas to Cultivate Success in 2022. It sounds sort of impressive and pretty business-ish, doesn’t it?

Yet, midway through its creation, it dawned upon me that you don’t need another prognostication to end your year. So, I lit the entire thing on fire.

Once the embers cooled, I gathered the ashes and worked them into some clay to sculpt you a poem. I hope it inspires and serves you well as you contemplate 2022.

The Innovation Fairy’s Dust is ephemeral
Update your Reference points – they’re far too general
The Path you seek runs through your “Why”
Yet Adjust you must to demand and supply
The Chain that’s forged can be a crown
If you choose to View the whole way down
Your Price must rise instead of fall
So long as Value binds it all
But don’t neglect Those you need
And most of all, take time to Breathe.
