“You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life.”
– unknown, but often misattributed to Winston Churchill –
Yesterday was the anniversary of Victory in Europe Day or V-E Day. (And I’m fairly certain that 73 years ago my maternal grandfather cracked open a fresh, celebratory pack of Camels at or near Pantanella airfield in southern Italy).
As time rolls onward, our natural, human tendency is to only celebrate the “big” anniversaries. (Think Silver, Gold and Diamond). Yet on your way to these milestones don’t forget to celebrate the small ones, too. All too often, though, organizations barrel past these small victories in pursuit of their next hill and they inevitably lose or misfile their history. This can lead to mission creep, lack of purpose and dilution of vision. So remember to celebrate the small milestones and file them away for future use. They just might be the key to future success.
