In a delightful dance of discoveries, this week’s week’s AI for the C Suite explores how humans and AI waltz best in creative collaborations while keeping tabs on the tech tango – from Perplexity’s shopping pirouette to Claude and ChatGPT’s subtle step changes. Meanwhile, our podcast keeps the rhythm going with bi-weekly beats from industry maestros like ASAE’s CIO Reggie Henry. Here’s what you need to know:

Human-AI Collaboration: When Combined Forces Work (and When They Don’t)
New research reveals that human-AI collaboration works best in content creation and when humans are already skilled at the task. Key takeaways include:
- Human-AI teams generally perform better than humans alone but worse than the better performer working independently
- Content creation tasks show positive synergy while decision-making tasks show performance losses
- Successful implementation requires matching AI capabilities to specific tasks rather than general-purpose assistance

3. Silicon Whispers
Over the past ten (10) days I’ve observed a number of changes to both Claude and ChatGPT. Some of these changes appear to be permanent while others are trial features. Examples of this include ChatGPT’s new “Search the web” feature” as well as Claude’s automatic shift to different models based on system usage constraints. I believe these tweaks and iterations are indicators that new features, models and even major changes are afoot – perhaps by the end of 2024. Stay tuned as these small experiments and changes may very well portend the imminent release of new offerings.
