Every year, one nation’s subculture observes a birthday by performing music commemorating a 19th century Russian military victory while detonating explosives originally named after the Greek word for “fine art.” (Yes, I am referring to the annual Boston Pops July 4th concert). As a leader, your language choice matters as much as (if not more than) your celebrated rituals. Remember: Rituals will shape us and communication can break us.
