Volatility. Uncertainty. Complexity. Ambiguity. Since 1987, the acronym VUCA has served as military shorthand for the rapidly changing, unpredictable post-Cold War world we live in. It’s even permeated the civilian world as a staple catchphrase of strategic planners. Yet what does VUCA really mean and are there better phrases that we could use?
