“People do not change when you tell them they should; they change when they tell themselves they must.”
– Dr. Michael Mandelbaum –
Professor Mandelbaum’s new book, Mission Failure: America and the World in the Post-Cold War Era, examines the effectiveness of U.S. foreign policy from 1991-2014 and draws some interesting conclusions. The most interesting “macro” takeaway is something good leaders already know: Noble intentions and great plans often self-immolate when released into the wild.
