“Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion.”
– Cyril Northcote Parkinson, Parkinson’s Law –
Today marks the midpoint of your work week… but what you if you were already halfway done because the work week was only four days long. Evidence is already piling up that working fewer hours makes you more efficient. Furthermore, a New Zealand legal firm’s pilot of a four day work week was so successful that they’re planning to make the four day work week permanent. These findings fly in the face of conventional wisdom about “work.” Yet in an economy where talent is scarce, every additional ounce of productivity and employee happiness that you can create is a bounty that you need to harvest.
