What if I told you that moderately indulging your vices can actually be an important part of a healthy lifestyle? That’s the gist of recent research which posits that, much like The Force, balance (not abstinence) is key to maintaining your social, emotional, physical and cognitive health. Too much self-control can result in inflexible, artificially high standards that compromise your personal relationships. Too little control? Well… we all know that one person who swung from a chandelier during college. So today, have that second cup of coffee and reward your brain’s pleasure center. You’ll be all the happier for it.
