2500 years ago the Greek philosopher Heraclitus observed that “Everything changes and nothing stands still.” These words echoed through my mind with the recent sale of Monster.com for $429 million (and the fact that in 2006 its market cap was $7.5 billion). Similarly, today’s average lifespan of an S&P 500 company is 15 years (while in the 1920’s it was 67 years). So as you pause and reflect this Labor Day weekend, consider the fact that you are changing every day. And that in the business world, just as in the natural world, change creates opportunity. So the only question that really matters is How are you changing to meet opportunity?
