No matter how prepared your organization, the death of an employee creates shockwaves that ripple outward in unexpected ways. This is even more true when the death occurs at work or the circumstances around the death are tragic. Next Friday I’ll share some thoughts on this sobering topic in my article Navigating Through Tragedy: A Leader’s Guide to Handling the Loss of an Employee. Between now and then, though, I encourage you to take stock of your existing policies, procedures and resources. Consider what tools are already included in your “break glass in case of emergency” kit then come prepared to review next Friday’s article with a comparative mindset.
