When a car accident prematurely ended his competitive skiing career, Jake Burton Carpenter hung up his sticks and went back to school. Yet Jake couldn’t quite get the rush of the downhill wind from his mind so, in 1977, he founded Burton Snowboards out of a Vermont barn… simultaneously launching one sport and revolutionizing another.
Jake passed away late Wednesday at the age of 65 leaving behind a legacy borne from a setback. Click here to listen to Jake’s 2017 interview about how he built Burton and then consider how you might use your next setback as inspiration instead of an excuse to “not do” something.
Have a great weekend and, if you have the chance, go get first tracks!
