“The law of unintended consequences is the only real law of history.”
– Niall Ferguson –

Happy Cinco de Mayo! One hundred sixty years ago today Mexican General Ignacio Zaragoza led a small, outnumbered force to victory against a larger, better equipped French army. Unfortunately, the good General died from typhoid four months later. Even if he’d been able to savor his victory for longer, Zaragoza could still have never imagined that it would become a major celebration in the United States. So today, regardless of how or even if you celebrate, remember that our actions always have unintended consequences. Yet regardless of how those consequences play out, when you stand tall for something you value, that principle will ripple outward through time.

Stay safe. Stay healthy. Be strong. Lead well.
