One of your jobs as leader is to illuminate the darkness by separating fact from mere information, because the two are not equivalent.
Our era is abundant with information. This abundance allows us to conveniently disregard facts that don’t match our beliefs and also treat non-factual information as if it were a fact. This is a cancer that, left unchecked, will first rot your strategy and then your team. Your job is to ask the hard questions, challenge long-held assumptions and separate fact from mere information… both with yourself and others.
In this new year, regardless of your beliefs, opinions and superstitions, strive to be the illuminating light that separates belief from fact.
