Tommy Kelly and Stephen Howarth served in the elite U.K. 45 Commando battalion where they specialized in extreme mountain warfare and trained high above the Arctic Circle. On one of these trainings, inadequate gear caused “a specific night of horror,” which eventually inspired the pair to found their outdoor gear company Jöttnar.
